Now on their 8th generation of blade makers, the Nigara family have been forging knives and swords for over 350 years. Their knife making style and Damascus patterns are absolutely beautiful, landing their knives in the "functional art" category.
These knives have an Aogami Super core steel with a stainless steel cladding. Aogami Super is one of our favourite knife steels because it is super easy to sharpen, and stays sharp for a long time with regular honing or stropping. Aogami Super also contains a touch of Chromium and Molybdenum, this means the steel is less likely to rust then other carbon steels, and is a bit tougher against wear.
All knives in this series are fixed with an Octagonal handle. We prefer this shape for a handle for it’s simplicity and also it’s comfort. Wenge is a hard-wood that will stand up to years of abuse, and looks fantastic as well.
