Nigara Hamono Tsuchime AS
Now on their 8th generation of blade makers, the Nigara family have been forging knives and swords for over 350 years. Their knife making style and Damascus patterns are absolutely beautiful, landing their knives in the "functional art" category.
.
This line of knives is a super special limited edition collaboration between a famous handle maker in Sakai and Nigara Hamono. The handle maker has fitted a very unique wa-style stag horn handle with turquoise end-cap and Iron wood collar to these knives. The results are some one of a kind knives, that double as art pieces. They are well balanced and fit beautifully in the hand.
.
These knives have an Aogami Super core steel with a stainless steel cladding. Aogami Super is one of our favourite knife steels because it is super easy to sharpen, and stays sharp for a long time with regular honing or stropping. Aogami Super also contains a touch of Chromium and Molybdenum, this means the steel is less likely to rust then other carbon steels, and is a bit tougher against wear.
