Takeda NAS
Takeda Hamono has been forging kitchen knives, sickles, axes, hoes, hatchets and hunting knives since 1920. The workshop relocated to Nimi, Japan in 1951, where it currently resides. Shosui Takeda is a third generation master blacksmith, who with the help of a small team, creates knives that have taken on legendary status.
.
Ask anyone who owns a knife from Shosui Takeda and they will tell you their knife performs on a different level. Forged with a kick ass Japanese knife steel known as Aogami super, Takeda san's knives are hammered super thin and have a rustic kurouchi finish. They are done entirely by hand without the aid of templates, so every knife is different. Aogami super (Blue Steel) is a carbon steel that requires a certain level of care, that when respected, will treat you well with high performance cutting for years.
.
Each knife is fitted with an octagonal stabilized rosewood handle for superior control, and a lightweight feel. They also feature a stainless tang, unlike carbon knives of the past where the tang was more susceptible to rusting.
