Sakai Kikumori Migaki SRS13
Established in 1926, Sakai Kikumori is a wholesaler based in Sakai, Japan. They work with the some of the best craftsman from the region, including Nakagawa Satoshi, Morihiro-san and Yoshikazu Tanaka, to name a few.
These san-mai blades are made with a high speed tool steel known as SRS13. SRS13 is a relatively new type of powder metallurgical steel with a breakdown that looks something like this: Carbon 1.3% , Chromium 13%, Molybdenum 2.75%, Tungsten 1.25%, Vanadium 1.5%, Manganese 0.3% and Silicon 0.3%. This all translates to a wear resistant, rust resistant, easy to sharpen and maintain knife steel. We are big fans of the keen edges it can provide.
All knives in this range are fitted with a wa handle made from walnut with a black buffalo horn collar.
