Hatsukokoro is an exciting wholesaler based just outside Osaka, Japan. Their focus on collaborative knife projects with some of the hottest blacksmiths, handle makers and knife sharpeners make them extremely fun to work with. We have been requesting more options in $150-$250 range and the Kumokage line should help fill that nicely.
The Kumokage line is hand forged by a well established and highly regarded blacksmith in Tosa, Japan. They specialize in affordable hammer forged knives using Aogami #2, blue paper steel. These knives offer amazing value, easy sharpening and rustic good looks.
Aogami #2 steel is a highly sought after steel by knife makers for being more forgiving in the forging process than white carbon. Blue carbon is not as pure as Shirogami, but the addition of tungsten and chromium makes for better rust resistance and is more resistant to wear.
These awesome little blades come fixed to an octagonal handle made from Teak. Teak is a durable hard wood that for centuries has been used in ship building and furniture for the wealthy.
