These changing times gave rise to the “Higonokami” or “short knife”. These knives are now being forged by fifth generation blacksmith Mitsuo Nagao. They are a folding knife with a friction lock and a distinctive thumb lever to prevent accidental closing. They are nice and slim which makes them a perfect little pocket knife for multiple jobs.
